Euthanasia can also be defined as merciful killing. I agree with the practice because if someone if in pain then they should not have to suffer. My grandmother was suffering from advanced cancer, and my mother and her siblings decided the best thing for her would be to put her out of her misery. I think the euthanasia is a unselfish act, George and Lennie serve as great examples. In their case George performed euthanasia for himself and Lennie; George knew that he could not live his life running all the time, and he knew that Lennie would never get his dream until he was in heaven. Although, it hurt him, he did it out of concern for Lennie, because he could not stand t see someone take the life of his dear friend. George exposed that he had authentic love, he exhibited that he felt this way because he did the killing instead of seeing someone else do it. At least when he killed Lennie he was doing it out of love, whereas the others that wanted to kill Lennie would only be doing it just as vengeance. I have the same views regarding animals, I do not believe it would be right to let an animal suffer because of one's selfishness.
